AWS is Grid Connected

On 2 October 2004 the AWS pilot plant exported power to the electricity grid in Portugal for the first time and in doing so became the most powerful grid-connected offshore wave energy generator in the world. With a rated capacity of 2MW the AWS more than trebles the existing installed capacity world-wide.

The plant is now undergoing further tests to establish the performance of the system and to produce valuable data which will verify the mathematical models used to design future commercial systems.
