AWS are delighted to have been invited by Ove Arup and Partners to join a Wave Energy Scotland project to investigate benefits of using concrete within the construction of wave energy converters. The project will produce a design for the Waveswing structure built in concrete and carry out an economic evaluation of the benefits. “AWS has always seen concrete as a possible material for construction of the silo of the Waveswing, with several potential advantages” said Simon Grey, AWS Chief Executive. “being involved with Arup on this project allows us access to world-class expertise in the design of concrete structures for offshore use. We are really excited about the possibilities”. The project is expected to run for 6 months, completing around the end of 2020.
